Funding Streams
R&D funding is divided into two streams, Public Domain and Restricted Domain, depending upon the access to intellectual property generated by the research.
Public Domain R&D is typically undertaken to advance public knowledge in specific areas. Intellectual property can be owned by the researcher (subject to their corporate policy). In most cases, the final project report and data where appropriate are available to PRAC members.
Restricted Domain R&D is typically developed by companies or individuals to advance knowledge for commercial or competitive gain. They usually do not divulge all of the intellectual property to the general public however a restricted report may in some cases be made available to PRAC members.
PRAC will promote three types of projects to support these funding streams:
- Targeted Calls for Research Projects ("Calls")
- Transfer to Usability Projects (TTUs)
- Facilitated Joint Industry Projects (JIPs)
