Socio-Economic Benefits From Petroleum Industry Activity in Newfoundland and Labrador 2005 - 2007
The research, carried out by Stantec of St. John’s, is an update of previous studies and identifies ways in which the oil and gas industry is benefiting the province, based on oil production, expenditures and employment data from 2005 to 2007. Using the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial government's economic model, it provides a detailed description of the benefits that have accrued to the province.

Corrosion under Insulation on Offshore Facilities
This project examined corrosion processes; the susceptibility of various materials used in offshore facilities to different types of corrosion; coating and insulation materials and systems; sealants, cladding and jacketing; visual, non-destructive and risk based inspection approaches; and the impact of environmental conditions that are present on the east coast of Canada on CUI.

Economic Impacts of LNG Imports to Atlantic Canada
This project examined how proposed LNG projects in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec, as well as CNG, would affect future natural gas markets in the Maritime Provinces, New England and beyond. It also evaluated changes required to the pipeline transportation system to deliver natural gas and the cost of transporting gas to the various markets.

Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Exploration Rights Permitting Study
A $40,000 study funded by PRAC to examine processes used in Atlantic Canada and in other parts of the world for the issuing of petroleum exploration rights. It evaluates these processes in the context of Canada's east coast and suggests possible changes to the current approach used in Atlantic Canada.

Socio-Economic Benefits From Petroleum Industry Activity in Newfoundland and Labrador 2003 and 2004
This study demonstrates the effects that petroleum industry activity is having on the economy in Newfoundland and Labrador. The study was funded by PRAC in partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources and Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, with in-kind support from the Department of Finance, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in the form of macroeconomic analysis.

The Regulatory Roadmap Project for the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Offshore Areas is a $221,500 project to document the regulatory requirements for all petroleum related activities in the offshore areas of the two provinces.

New Brunswick Onshore Oil and Natural Gas Well Abandonment Study
The project resulted in an abandonment cost matrix to enable the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources to determine the applicable security requirement for any given well, and enable them to avoid unfunded liabilities associated with well abandonments.

Natural Gas and 'Greenfield' Areas
The purpose of this $95,000 project was to develop a framework model for assessing economic benefits arising from the introduction of gas into new geographic areas (greenfield areas) and to carry out three case studies in the Maritime Provinces.

Labour Demand Model
This project created a computer model that assesses the impact different levels of offshore exploration, development and production activity would have on the demand over time for approximately 70 occupations. The total project cost of $150,000 was shared by ACOA ($80,000), Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation ($20,000), NS Petroleum Directorate ($20,000), PanCanadian Energy ($15,000) and PRAC ($15,000).
