Petroleum Research Newfoundland & Labrador funds and facilitates petroleum-related research and development in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Petroleum Research is a federally-incorporated, not-for-profit organization that facilitates research and technology development and delivers value to members by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and funding and managing the execution of projects on behalf of the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore oil and gas industry.
We are a member-based organization that seeks proposals for research and technology development projects that address the operational, technical and business needs of our members.
Petroleum Research issues Requests for Proposals (RFPs) which focus on specific member needs. In addition, we issue an annual ‘Call for Proposals’ which addresses a Petroleum Research strategic focus area and provides an opportunity for proponents to submit a scope of work. We also accept unsolicited proposals from individuals or organizations conducting research in a particular subject area or field that is of potential interest to our members.
Environmental genomics is the study of genes to characterize biological components of the environment. It has the potential to enhance or replace conventional approaches to environmental assessment and monitoring, at a faster and cheaper rate than conventional approaches. ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company and Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador hosted the first International Workshop on Environmental Genomics: Understanding the State of Science and Research Opportunities, in St. John’s, NL on June 2-3, 2016.
